How long have you been coaching?
I have been coaching baseball for 4 years, and 2 years of travel baseball.

Playing/coaching Experience:
I started playing baseball when I was 4 years old. I played for several years through high school and into college.

What Makes You Tick/Motivated:
Growing a love and passion for the game. I want each and every player to learn and grow with the game. The ultimate goal is to love the game of baseball and have a ton of fun doing it. If we succeed in having fun, and growing a love and passion for the game, success will come naturally.

Off-field interests:
I enjoy spending time with my wife, Ashley, and my kids Alana & Ronnie.

How long have you been with Kiski baseball:
I started coaching in Kiski baseball in 2020.

Playing/coaching experience:
I've been an assistant coach, or head coach, with this age group since 2020.  Head coach for the 9u team in 2025. Played baseball my whole life from teeball to D-1 collegiate baseball at WVU.

What makes you tick/motivated:
Seeing the kids learn and love the game of baseball as they grow up.  Most importantly, not just being their "coach", but being a person that makes an impact on their life outside of baseball and helps mold them into respectful young men on and off the field.

Off-field Interests:
Spending quality electronic-free time with Angela, Cash, Leo, and Enzo.

How long have you been coaching?

What makes you tick (What motivates you)?
Watching the kids develop. Seeing them smile and enjoy what they are doing.  I enjoy the opportunity in helping the boys become better baseball players in addition to them becoming hardworking, positive, and motivated individuals off the field as well.

What is my favorite baseball memory?

Winning our first tournament as Head Coach, at home, with a 5-0 record and becoming the Memorial Day Classic Champions!

Off-field interests:
I enjoy spending time with my wife, Lauren, and kids, Olivia and Charlie.  I also coach football for KVL in the fall.

12U - Shawn Schwarz

(Phone: 724-787-8986  Email: [email protected])

How long have you been with Kiski Baseball:
Six years, including four years leading a tournament team.

Playing/Coaching Experience:
I previously coached high school baseball at Kiski Area as an assistant varsity coach from 2010 to 2014. This is where I started to develop my own  coaching style and learned from some great mentors.  As a collegiate player, I competed at WCCC and IUP, earning multiple honors including Team MVP and Most Outstanding Male Athlete during my sophomore year and finishing in IUP’s top 10 for single-season hits and doubles. I also completed two strength and conditioning internships with the University of Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Pirates, gaining experience working with Division I and professional athletes.

What Makes You Tick / Motivated:
I’m driven by a passion for player development, a commitment to teaching the game the right way, and a strong desire to keep community-based teams thriving. I love watching young athletes grow not just as players, but as confident, hardworking individuals. I coach with a “win or lose with class” mentality, creating an environment that’s fun but also structured and disciplined. This approach helps foster a meaningful, long-lasting baseball experience.

Off-Field Interests:
I enjoy spending time with my wife, our four kids, and our extended families. As one of seven siblings myself, family is extremely important to me  and it’s a value I prioritize within my teams.  I’m also devoted to fitness, leadership development, and continuous personal growth through books, podcasts, and self-improvement.
